Even at the height of 6’8, it was sometimes easy to forget Chris Copeland played basketball. He is receptive and humble, and his round, lively face and long slender arms wrapped in a layer of baby fat often made him look younger than he was. Chris Copeland presently plays for the Indiana Pacers of the NBA, he also played college basketball for the University of Colorado Boulder. In his freshman season at Colorado, Copeland proved to be an important contributor off the bench as he always provided Colorado University with clutch points in spite of limited minutes. During his sophomore season, he played in 27 of the Buffs 28 games, averaging 9.2 minutes per game. He scored a season high 12 points versus Iowa State and along with 5 rebounds and 4-of-4 from the free throw line.
In his junior season, he got Big 12 All Improved team honors after more than tripling his points for each game average. In his senior season, Copeland helped Colorado University to a 20-10 overall record. In the 2006 NBA Draft, he went undrafted.
On July 2012, Copeland signed a 1-year deal with the New York Knicks and move on to average 13.8 points in 5 games for the Knicks during the 2012 NBA Summer League. He made his NBA appearance in the Knicks’ season opener against the Miami Heat. He was appointed to the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League on December 2012. On April 2013, he recorded a career high 33 points in the Knicks’ final season versus the Atlanta Hawks.
